World Tenpin Bowling Association releases Bulletin No. 2 for 2013 World Championships

24 of 46 participating federations have not yet made room reservations at the host hotel; federations who do not stay at Sunset Station may face consequences such as double entry fee and no arranged transportation to any scheduled activity, hotel or airport

2013WCLogo_small.jpg The World Tenpin Bowling Association has released Bulletin No. 2 for the 2013 World Championships, which will be held from August 16-31 Strike Zone bowling center in Henderson, Nev., a 72-laner inside Sunset Station Hotel & Casino in suburban Las Vegas, United States. In a letter attached to this Bulletin WTBA President Kevin Dornberger noted with some concern that only 21 out of 46 participating federations have booked their confirmation with the host hotel.

PBA stars Mike Fagan, Kelly Kulick to represent Team USA at World Games

2013EBT04MikeFagan_small.jpg201213PBAKellyKulick_small.jpgTeam USA members Mike Fagan (pictured left) and Kelly Kulick (right) will represent the United States at the 2013 World Games this summer in Cali, Colombia. The duo will look to give Team USA its first gold medal in World Games competition. Since the World Games began in 1981, the United States has won two silver medals and three bronze medals but has been shut out of the gold medals in the event, which is held every four years.

Netherlands Bowling Federation announces teams for 2013 World Championships

Jeroen van Geel (l.) led the men's selection process ahead of Johnny Spil and Roel Mol. Ghislaine van der Tol (r.) led the women's field and was followed by Lisanne Breeschoten and Wendy Kok.

Mika Koivuniemi regains lead in World Bowling Tour men's points ranking

Missy Parkin continues to lead women's point list after seven events in 2013

In the two most recent events, Koivuniemi picked up 40 points for a second-place finish at the Kuwait Open and earned eight points at the 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge in Munich, Germany. He leads the men's field with 476 total points.

The top 50 men and women earn points based on how they finish in each event. The current points system is based on a continuous two-year cycle. The top 3 men and top 3 women will qualify for the World Bowling Tour finals at the end of 2013.

Newcomer Larry Salvati to represent Canada in the men's division at 49th BWC edition in Siberia

Lagrange, who won the women's title in 2009, and Salvati, who had his first appearance at the BWC qualifier, will represent Canada this coming November 15-24 at the 49th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup at Sibiryak Bowling Center in Krasnoyarsk (Siberia), Russia.

Ronnie Russell claims his first career PBA title in 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge

PBA Touring pro earns berth in next week's PBA Tournament of Champions

2013EBT04WinnerRonnieRussellBrentPerrier_small.jpgPBA Touring pro Ronnie Russell, United States, defeated James Gruffman of Sweden, in the championship match of the 10th Brunswick Euro Challenge, 224-210, to claim the title and the 15.000 Euro top prize. Russell, who secured the No. 1 seed for the three-player stepladder finals with a 279 last game in the match play round, earned his first European Bowling Tour title, his first World Bowling Tour title and, due to an agreement between the PBA and the WTBA, his first career PBA international title.

U.S. team named for 1st World Senior Championships

On the men's side, the USA will be represented by Del Ballard Jr. (l.), Ron Mohr, Hugh Miller and Ed Roberts. All four members of the women's squad, Lucy Sandelin, Robin Romeo, Anne Marie Duggan (r.) and Tish Johnson are members of the USBC Hall of Fame.

Sean Rash defeats Mika Koivuniemi to win 10th Kuwait International Open 2013

Reigning PBA Player of the Year captures his sixth career PBA title

2013KOSeanRash3_small.jpgReigning PBA Player of the Year, Sean Rash (l.) of Montgomery, Ill., USA, defeated Mika Koivuniemi (r.), Finland, 234-201, in the title match of the World Bowling Tour's 10th Kuwait International Open 2013 to win the PBA International title and the $25,000 top prize. Rash, who won his sixth career PBA title, Rash struck eight times and took advantage of a big split by Koivuniemi in the 10th frame to seal the victory. Koivuniemi was consoled with $12,000.

Sam Cooley, Dayang Khairuniza end 6th Commonwealth Championship with victory in Masters

2013CTBCLogo_small.jpg Sam Cooley of Australia and Dayang Khairuniza of Malaysia won the gold medal in the Men's and Women's Masters competition, which concluded the 6th Commonwealth Championship Sunday, March 3, at Pins Lincoln Bowling Center in Auckland, New Zealand. Cooley stormed to his third gold medal of the championships with a 249-181 win over Javier Tan of Singapore. Khairuniza defeated her team mate Siti Shazwani, 199-188, to capture the women's title.

Australia took the silver medal and Malaysia got bronze. Australia's Sam Cooley and England's Lisa John won the men's and women's title in All Events.

The duo struck out in the 10th frame for 497, the highest game of the event, en route to claim the title with 2586 or an average of 215.50 for six games. Rafiq Ismail and Siti Shazwani of Malaysia took the silver medal with 2552. John Wells and Kirsten Penny of England received the bronze medal with 2520.

Javier Tan and Jaris Goh finished their six-game series with a 462 game to claim the gold medal in Men's Doubles with 2702 total and an average of 225.16. Bernice Lim and Geraldine Ng finished with 440 to maintain the lead and to win the gold medal in Women's Doubles with the field-best 2716 total (226.33).

Siti Shazwani of Malaysia was a distant second with 1188, while Penny's fellow countrywoman Lisa John tied Malta's Sue Abela for third place to share the bronze medal with 1183.

2013CTBCSamCooley_small.jpgAustralia's Sam Cooley averaged over 240 Monday at Pins Lincoln Bowling Center in Auckland, New Zealand, to start the VI Commonwealth Championship with victory in Men's Singles. The 21-year-old led the 20-player field from ten countries with 1444 total and an average of 240.66. Cooley outaveraged his nearest competitor, Muhammad Jaris Goh of Singapore, by almost twenty pins. Goh had 1328 to claim the silver medal. Isaac Russell Paul of Malaysia earned the bronze medal with 1247 (207.83).

New HD Videos available: Review the highlights of the International Bowling Championships

2013IBCTVSetup03_small.jpgThe Japan Bowling Congress has released four new High Definition videos featuring the highlights of the International Bowling Championships 2013 supported by DHC. The preliminaries of the World Bowling Tour event were held at the world's biggest bowling center, 116-lane Inazawa Grandbowl in Inazawa City, Japan, while the Trios Shootout and the Men's and Women's TV Finals were staged on temporary lanes in an arena-style setting at Inazawa Futsal (Indoor Football) Stadium.

Dutch national squad starts selection process for 2013 World Championships

2013NBFLogo_small.jpg The Netherlands Bowling Federation (NBF) has announced the selection process for athletes to qualify for the Dutch men's and women's national team for the 2013 World Championships in the United States. 24 players, 13 men and 11 women, started the "Road to the World Championships 2013" program to select six men and six women who will represent the Netherlands in the first combined World Championships since 2003, August 18-31 at Sunset Station's Strike Zone bowling center in Henderson, Nev.
