It was the first gold medal of the Championships for Kuwait and the seventh for Korea.

The Korean team played in its own league in Abu Dhabi and dominated the medal tally. The Koreans led the women's medal tally with four gold, two silver and two bronze and also the men's medal tally with three gold, two silver and one bronze for a total of seven gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

The Japanese women and the UAE men each earned two silver and one bronze medal, while Bahrain and Indonesia each walked away with two bronze medals. (Note: Two silver medals, no bronze, were given in Women Singles.)

Al-Dubyyan, who earned the No. 1 seed for the three-player stepladder finals, flew past No. 2 seed, Choi Bok-Eum (left) of Korea, 499-408, over two games total pinfall. The 2006 World Ranking Masters champion took a commanding 43-pin lead with a 234-191 win in game and cruised to the title with huge 265 to Bok-Eum's 217.

Second-seeded Bok-Eum, who rolled two 300 games in the Championships in Singles and Trios eliminated his compatriot, No. 3 seed Jang Dong-Chul (above right) in the opening match in 9th and 10th frame roll-off, 48-40, after a 179-179 tie.

The Korean started with a 268-235 win in game one and cruised to her third gold medal of the Championships with a 237-217 in game two for a 505-430 victory.

The top 16 out of 107 men and the top 16 out of 62 women in All Events (combined results of Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team) - total 24 games) advanced to the Masters finals, which concluded the 21st Asian Championships.

All players bowled 16 games of round robin match play - eight games on medium oil on Saturday and eight games on short oil on Sunday - to cut to the top three players who bowled for the medals in a stepladder final.
