USA wins Adult, Senior and Junior A divisions in Mixed Doubles at Tournament of The Americas

Colombia claims the gold medal in Junior B

 The United States won another three gold medals and two silver medals in the Mixed Doubles competition of the 48th Lee Evans Tournament of The Americas which will end on Saturday, Aug. 7 at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Emily Maier teamed with Chris Bardol (center) to win the gold medal in the Adult division with 2558 six-game total or an average of 213.17. Bardol had 1364 (227.33), the highest individual series of all competitors for the day, and Maier added 1194.

The second U.S. adult team, Kendra Gaines and Cassidy Schaub (on the left), were 40 pins behind to take the silver medal with 2518 (209.83). The duo overtook Aumi Guerra and Raffy Sebelen (right), Dominican Republic, in the final game by three pins. Guerra/Sebelen took the bronze with 2515 (209.58).

 Lucy Sandelin and Ed Roberts outaveraged their nearest competitors by 16.5 pins to easily win the gold medal in the Senior division (pictured right are the top 3) with 2539 pinfall total and an average of 211.58. Roberts had 1274 and Sandelin was close behind with 1265.

Clara Rivadeneira and Jhimy Gualdron, Colombia, were almost 200 pins behind the Americans to finish in second place with 2341 (195.08). Bronze went to Marie Sealy and Alfred Burrows, Bahamas, who were another 121 pins behind the Colombians in third place with 2220 (185.00).

 Elise Bolton and Kyle King (pictured left, center) posted the field-best 2560 series to win the Junior A division (ages 16-19) averaging 213.33 for their six games. King had 1321 including a 286 game and Bolton added 1239.

Melissa Courchesne and Jordan Jung, Canada, chalked up 2458 to land in second place to earn the silver medal with 2458 (204.83). Colombians Alejandra Barreto and Jorge D Moreno finished third with 2383 (198.58).

 Colombia took gold and bronze in the Junior B division (pictured right) and spoiled a U.S. gold medal sweep. Juliana Franco and Edison Molina averaged 203.85 and felled 2446 pins to cruise to the gold medal. Franco led the team with 1267 including high games of 254 and 245 and Molina contributed 1179.

Their teammates Andrea Novoa and Sebastian Donado finished in third place to take the bronze medal with 2305 (192.00). Sandwiched between the Colombians were Melissa Perez and Michael Coffey, who received the silver medal with 2373 (197.75).

The invitational competition for countries of PABCON (Pan American Bowling Confederation - the American Zone of World Tenpin Bowling Association) has four divisions for men and women: Adult, Senior (ages 50-plus), Junior A (ages 16-19) and Junior B (ages 12-15).

In each division, one team comprised of two men and two women compete in Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Team event throughout the week-long tournament. After 36 games, Individual All-Events and National All-Events champions are recognized.
