Tommaso Radi holds on to the lead after six qualifying squads

Parapini got off to a strong start including games of 224, 238, 263 and 221 but had to settle for second place in the overall qualifying standings with 1315 behind a sup-par finish (190, 179).

Tommaso Radi (below left), Italy, held on to the lead with 1349 and an average of 224.83 for six games.

2010EBT11TommasoRadi.jpg2010EBT11MarcoBoccato.jpgMarco Padovani, Italy, slipped one spot to third with 1312. Mortensen was 14 pins behind Parapini in Squad 6 with 1301 including six games between 235 and 198 to overtake the 4th place in the 107-player field.

Rounding out the top 5 is Yoan Alix, France, with 1297. Radi, Padovani and Alix, who led the standings after the first weekend, are automatically qualified for the finals on Sunday, July 4th.

Parapini, Mortensen as well as 6th placed Marco Boccato (right, 1296) and 9th placed Diego Biolghini, both Italy, are the early leaders of a separate leaderboard of the squads scheduled for Monday thru Wednesday, July 5-7. The top 4 will also advance to the finals.

Letizia Torregrossa, Italy, had six games between 222 and 186 on Monday for 1215 (202.50) and added 48 pins handicap to become the top-ranked woman in the tournament in 13th place with 1263. Qualifying continues on Tuesday with Squad 7 and 8.

The tournament is the 11th stop of the 2010 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Gold" tournaments. Since the Ankara Open and the Austria Challenge have been cancelled, the 2010 EBT Tour consists of 19 events - 2 EBT Platinum tournament (formerly Premier), 6 EBT Gold tournaments (formerly Major), 7 EBT Silver tournaments (formerly Challenger) and 4 EBT Satellite tournaments (new category).

Amanda Fagan, United States, was the top-ranked woman in 27th place and won the women's rankings.

A total of 48 players will advance to the finals on Sunday - the top 38 players from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 3 from the squads conducted on July 3-4, the top 4 from the squads conducted on July 5-7 and the top 3 from the Desperado Squad. The top 6 qualifiers will earn two byes, while qualifiers 7-12 will get one.

The other 36 players will bowl four games from scratch to cut to the top 18, who will meet qualifiers 7-12 in round two. Those 24 bowl another 4 games from scratch to cut to the top 10, who will join the top six qualifiers in single-elimination match play with the two game total pinfall determining the winner.

The highest seeded player bowls the lowest seeded, the second-highest seeded players bowls the second-lowest and so on. The field will be cut to 8, 4 then 2, who will bowl for the title and the 10.000 Euro top prize.
