Top seeded Cha Im Ho and Kim Dong Gyun from Korea (pictured left) flew past No. 2 seed, Yang Nien-Hua and Hung Kun-Yi, Chinese Taipei, 468-333, to win the gold medal in Men's Doubles in the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship Thursday at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam.

It was the second gold medal in the championships for Korea after the women's Singles yesterday. Yang, who won the gold medal in men's Singles, and Hung earned the silver medal.

Korea took the No. 1 seed after six games preliminaries by mere three pins with 2601 pinfall total and an average of 216.75. Chinese Taipei was second with 2598 and was followed by Takuma Echigo and Masaru Ito, Japan, with 2570. Echigo had the field-best 1396 individual six-game series.

Guam's Reynaldo Zialcita and Manny Tagle captured the fourth and last place to advance to the playoffs with 2489 (207.42).

In a close semifinal match, the locals fell to the Koreans, 408-399, while the Japanese were eliminated by the Chinese Taipei spinners, 390-358. Guam and Japan finished third and shared the bronze medal.
