Korean women dominate Singles event at East Asian Pacific Championship

Park Ju Young captures the first title of the championship

2010EAPCLogo.jpg2010EAPCWomenSinglesTop4.jpgPark Ju Young, Korea, started the 24th East Asian Pacific Championship Tuesday at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam with victory in Women Singles. In the championship match, Park defeated team mate Sim Ui Jin, 231-209, to claim the first gold medal of the championships.

The Korean women dominated the event finishing the six-game preliminaries in first, second, third, fifth and sixth place. Sim led the 28-player field from five countries- Chinese Taipei, Guam, Japan, Korea and Macau - with 1301 and an average of 216.83. Park was second with 1263 and Lee Mi-Ryung third with 1229.

Maki Sano, Japan, took the fourth and last spot to advance to the playoffs with 1198 (199.67 ave.).

In the semifinals, Sim eliminated Sano, 231-171, while park ousted Lee, 201-177. Sim earned the silver medal and Sano and Lee shared the bronze.
