Walter Ray Williams Jr. 11th after first round bowling in Senior Tour debut

2010PBASKeithSharp.jpg2010PBASDaveFlemming.jpgKeith Sharp (pictured left) of Orlando, Fla., averaged 247.7 to lead after the first round Monday in the Professional Bowlers Association Senior Miller High Life Classic at George Pappas Victory Lanes.

Sharp had games of 247, 239, 266, 255, 258, 258, 256 and 203 for a 1,982 pinfall total to hold a 57-pin lead over Dave Flemming (right) of Fairborn, Ohio in second.

“It was one of those rounds where I had the right ball for the right condition,” said the 55-year-old Sharp who owns one Senior Tour title. “I drilled a new ball before the round and I guessed right. I was able to play the same shot for most of the games and it’s always a good thing when you don’t have to make a lot of adjustments.”

200910PBAWalterRayWilliams.jpgReigning PBA Player of the Year Walter Ray Williams Jr. (left), making his Senior Tour debut, finished the round in 11th with a 1,861 pinfall (232.6 average).

“I bowled four good games and four not so good, but overall I bowled decent," said the 50-year-old PBA Hall of Famer. “We’ll see what tomorrow brings and go from there.”

The 157-player field will bowl another eight-game qualifying round on Tuesday after which the field will be cut to the top 32 players who will advance to best-of-five match play beginning Wednesday at 11 a.m. Match play continues all day Wednesday with the Round of 8 and championship rounds scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

PBA.com’s Xtra Frame video service will provide final-day coverage on Wednesday.
