No changes atop the leaderboard in European Rankings after Luxembourg
03/22/10
The Ebonite International Luxembourg Open, which concluded Sunday March 21 at X-Treme Bowling & Billard in Foetz, Luxembourg, was the sixth event of the 2010 European Bowling Tour and the second EBT Satellite tournament.
With just a handful of the top 20 men and women competing in Luxembourg and only 50 ranking points awarded for tournament and men's ranking winner Ulf Bolleby (pictured left), Sweden, and women's ranking winner Marilyn Planchard, France, no changes were made atop the men's and women's leaderboard.
Bolleby moved into 24th place in the men's ranking after six of 19 events with 98 ranking points. Planchard has 90 points to sit in 21st place in the women's ranking.
Satellite is the lowest of the four EBT tournament categories. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament gets 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament such as the Luxembourg Open gets 50 ranking points.
Nina Flack (right), Sweden, continued to lead the women's ranking with 320 points, with Cherie Tan, Singapore, in second place with 250 points and Tina Hulsch, Germany, in third place with 248.
Dominic Barrett (left), England, held on to the lead in the men's ranking with 325 points.
PBA champions Mika Koivuniemi, Finland, and Parker Bohn III, United States, sit in second and third place with 268 and 260 points, respectively.
Since the Ankara Open and the Austria Challenge have been cancelled, the 2010 EBT Tour consists of 19 events - 2 EBT Platinum tournament (formerly Premier), 6 EBT Gold tournaments (formerly Major), 7 EBT Silver tournaments (formerly Challenger) and 4 EBT Satellite tournaments (new category).
The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each of the 19 tournaments of the 2010 European Bowling Tour will cash ranking points no matter from which country or WTBA Zone (Europe, Asia, America) he or she comes.
The top 16 men and the top 16 women at the end of the 2010 EBT season will qualify for the 2011 EBT Masters to be held at Gladiator Arena in Ljubljana, Slovenia, April 11-12, 2011.
The European Bowling Tour takes a 3-week break before heading to Bowling Center Gladiator in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for the 4th Qubica/AMF Open 2010, the third EBT Silver event this season, from April 14-18, 2010.
