2010 European Bowling Tour #2
Germany's Martina Beckel wins Women's Ranking; Stampe, Barrett shoot 300 games

Swedish national team member Dennis Eklund (pictured left) won his second European Bowling Tour title when he rolled games of 251 and 259 to claim the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament Sunday at Dolfijn Bowling Tilburg in Tilburg, Netherlands. Eklund earned 8.000 Euro and 100 ranking points. Eklund, who survived six two-game matches decided by total pinfall, saved his best for last to beat qualifying leader Dominic Barrett (right), England, by six pins, 510-504. Barrett, who had 527 in Round 4 including a 300 game and 5ß0 in Round 5 including a 299 game, had to settle for second place behind games of 244 and 260.
Eklund's fellow countryman and team mate on the national team, Tobias Karlsson finished third with 413. German veteran Martina Beckel, a two-time world champion, landed in fourth place to easily win the women's ranking in Tilburg.
Barrett, who has won 1.500 Euro bonus during the qualifying week, pocketed 6.000 Euro for second place. Karlsson received 4.000 Euro for third and Beckel garnered 2.000 Euro for fourth.

Denmark's Mik Stampe (pictured left) rolled the second 300 game of the tournament and the first in the finals in Round 2 but was eliminated in Round 3 to finish in 19th place. The Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2010 was held from Sunday, Feb. 7 through Sunday Feb. 14 at 20-lane Dolfijn Bowling Tilburg in Tilburg, Netherlands. The tournament was the second stop of the 2010 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Silver" tournaments.
Once again the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament was contested on dual lane condition. The left lane was dressed with the 46 feet long pattern (pdf file), the right lane with the 33 feet short pattern (pdf file).
Players competed for total prize money of 51.200 Euro or approximately 70.000 USD. The champion walked away with the 8.000 Euro top prize.
Osku Palermaa, Finland, was the defending champion. Ghislaine van der Tol, Netherlands, won the women's rankings in Tilburg in 2009.
Qualifying ran from Sunday Fe. 7 through Saturday Feb. 13 and ended with the ultimate one-game Desperado Squad. Women received 8 pins handicap each game, a standard on the European Bowling Tour.
A total of 48 players - the top 38 qualifiers, the top 4 from the Desperado Squad and the top six from a separate leaderboard of the squads contested Feb. 7-9 - advanced to the finals on Sunday, Feb. 14. The top 8 qualifiers received three byes, while qualifiers 9-16 earned two byes.
The players were divided into eight groups of four players each and determined the champion in six rounds over two games total pinfall. The top two players from each group advanced to the next round and were reseeded according to pinfall in the previous round.
The field was cut from 48 to 32, 24, 16, 8 and the then four, who battled it out for the title.
