Masters finals conclude 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships

2010AsYCLogo.jpg 2010AsYCKimHyunMiMichaelMak.jpgAfter 8 days of competition the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships came to an end with the Girls and Boys Masters finals Tuesday Feb. 2 at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait.

The girls championship round was an all-Korean affair with Kim Hyun Mi (pictured left) in first place, Baek Seung Ja in second and Lee Yeon Ji in third.

On the boys side, Eric Tseng defeated Shin Seung Hyeon, Korea, in the opening match to set up an all-Hong Kong title match against Michael Mak. Mak (pictured right) won in a close encounter by 5 pins.

58 boys from 15 countries - Australia, China, DPR Korea, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and UAE - and 31 girls from 8 countries - Australia, China, DPR Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore - competed for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, 4-player Team, All Events and Masters.

2010AsYCOverallBoysChampionHongKong.jpgMichael Mak, who earned a medal in each of the five events, became the most winningest player of the championships. Mak won the titles in Doubles, All Events and Masters, silver in Team and bronze in Singles. As in All Events and Masters, Mak's partner in Doubles, Eric Tseng, was the second best player with one gold and three silver medals.

The duo helped Hong Kong to become the Boys Overall Champion with 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal.

The Korean boys led by Singles champion Shin Seung Hyeon was second with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Malaysia won the Team gold and also 2 bronze medals.

Hong Kong, Korea and Malaysia took 13 of the 15 medals in the Boys Division. Lee Tak Man won a silver medal (Singles) for Macau while the host country Kuwait got a bronze medal in Team.

 

 


2010AsYCOverallGirlsChampionSingapore.jpgBernice Lim, Singapore, led the girl's medal count by winning 3 gold medals in Doubles, Team and All Events. Her team mate and Doubles partner, New Hui Fen, was second with 2 gold medals. With the three gold medals, the Duo helped Singapore to become the Girls Overall Champion.

The Korean girls won seven out of 15 medals, 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze. Singles champion Baek Seung Ja earned four medal (1-1-2) and Masters champion Kim Hyun Mi three (1-1-1).

Japan earned 3 silver and 1 bronze medal and Malaysia left Kuwait with 1 bronze medal.

 

 


2010AsYCOverallChampionKorea.jpgThe team from Korea, boys and girls won ten medals, 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze, to become the Overall Champion of the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships.

Hong Kong was second (3-3-1), Singapore third (3-0-0), Malaysia fourth (1-0-3), Japan fifth (0-3-1), Macau sixth (0-1-0) and Kuwait seventh (0-0-1).

 

 


The championships featured six 300 games, three by girls and three by boys:

  2. Lee Tak Man, Macau (Boys Singles)
  3. Misaki Mukotani, Japan (Girls Doubles)
  4. Justin Lim, Singapore (Boys Doubles)
  5. Rebecca Whitting, Austrlia (Girls Team)
  6. Shin Seung Hyeon, Korea (Boys Masters)
