2009EBTLogo_small.jpgAs a consequence of the global financial crisis, the organizer of Ankara Open, the 13th stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour, has announced that the prize fund of the 2009 tournament will be reduced to 70.000 Euro.

In agreement with the European Tenpin Bowling Federation Presidium the Ankara Open changes loses its "Premier" status and changes to EBT "Major". The 2009 European Bowling Tour consists of 16 tournaments, 12 "Majors" and 4 "Challengers". The Ankara Open will be conducted September 5-13, 2009 at Rollhouse Bowling Center Bilkent.

Sinem Aydin Devrim, general manager of Rollhouse Bowling Centers, explained the decision.

"Since we believe that the European Bowling Tour is one of the greatest bowling events, we are honored to participate with our tournament and to support it with all our efforts. But even we prefer to keep the tournament in the Premier category, it is unfortunately necessary for us to reduce this year’s prize fund to 70.000 Euro because of certain sponsor issues.

"In 2009 the category of Ankara Open will therefore be Major. We are looking forward to host the tournament and to provide all our services for you, so you can enjoy the tournament both in 2009 as well as in 2010, where we will host the tournament with the same format. " ETBF vice president Kim Thorsgaard Jensen informed that the ETBF Presidium "is very satisfied that there is a solution to the unforeseen situation".
