20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong conclude in style

Thank you for participating, farewell and safe travels back home said the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress on a full-page advertisement in the South China Morning Post to the participating players, coaches, officials and guests of the 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships which ended Friday evening with the Victory Banquet at EMax, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong, China.

Opposite to PABCON (America) and ETBF Championships (Europe) the 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships is held simultaneously for men and women, who competed for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team of 5, All Events and Masters. For some countries the outcome was vital for future governmental support for the federations.
167 players - 106 men and 61 women - from 19 countries - China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Egypt, Guam, India, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Saipan, Singapore, Thailand, UAE and the host country of Hong Kong participated in the 20th edition of the championships which were held in Hong Kong for the third time.
Korea finished as the overall champion with six gold, five silver and four bronze medals. The Korean women dominated the women's divisions like never before winning all but two medals possible with five gold, five silver and three bronze. The Malaysian men had their best-ever performance in Asian Championships winning two gold, one silver and one bronze to lead the men's division.
Both countries walked away with most prestigious titles, the gold medals in the men's and women's five-player team event and in the Masters competition.
