Korea comes from behind to win the men's team title at Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games

    2007AIGLogo_small.jpg The Korean men's team, which barely made the cut to the finals in fourth position, climbed the ladder to win the gold medal in the men's four-player team event at the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games.

    Choi Bok Eum, Kim Hyun Suk, Kim Kwang Wook and Park Min Su ousted No. 1 seeded Japan in the semi-finals, 830-766, and went on to defeat the No. 2 seed, Qatar with Qatar Mubarak Al Muraikhi, Fahid Al-Emadi, Abdulla Al-Qattan and Saeed Al-Hajri, 922-829, in the title match.

    Qatar received the silver medal while Japan and Thailand shared the bronze.

    Japan earns No. 1 seed for Men's Four-Player Team finals at Asian Indoor Games


    2007AIGLogo_small.jpg Japan took the No. 1 seed for tomorrow's semi-final round in the men's four-player team finals at the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games.

    Tomoyuki Sasaki, Masaru Ito, Daiki Ikeda and Masaaki Takemoto, who led the field of 18 teams after the first block on long oil (2736) including a 1024 first game, a 256 average, added games of 878, 846 and 918 for the highest series on short oil with 2642.

    With 5378 six-game total, an average of 224.08, the Japanese led Mubarak Al Muraikhi, Fahid Al-Emadi, Abdulla Al-Qattan and Saeed Al-Hajri of Qatar by 222 pins. The Qataris felled 2623 pins on the short pattern to leap one spot into second place with 5156 pinfall total (214.83).

    Thailand with Surasak Manuwong, Phoemphun Yakasem, Somjed Kusonpithak and Yannaphon Larpapharat fell one spot to third behind a 2506 series on day two to finish with 5078 pinfall total (211.58).

    Choi Bok Eum, Kim Hyun Suk, Kim Kwang Wook and Park Min Su of Korea started the day in seventh position and closed out their series with a 899 game to help grab the fourth and last spot for the finals with 5017 (209.04).

    The team from Kuwait, Khaled Al-Dubyyan, Salem Al Hajras, Jasim Abbas and Basel Al-Anzi, fell 61 pins short of the finals to finish fifth with 4956 due to a 753 in the final game.

    The men are done for today and the women's teams will take on the lanes for their second block on short oil. The top four teams - men and women - will return on Friday for the semi-finals and finals which will conclude the bowling competition at the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games.
