Don Sylvia wins his third career PBA Senior title in Northern California Classic

Muller of Gervais, Ore., 209-173, to win his third career Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour title in the PBA Senior Northern California Classic at Harvest Park Bowl Wednesday. Sylvia, who won his last title in the Lake County Indiana Open in Hammond, Ind., three years ago, earned $8,000 while Muller, a non-titlist bowling in only his seventh Senior Tour event, won $4,500 as runner-up. The PBA Senior Tour now heads to Las Vegas, Nev., for back-to-back major championships.

Mohr finished the 16 games of qualifying with a 3,624 total, two pins ahead of four-time PBA Senior Tour Player of the Year Tom Baker (r.) of King, N.C., as the top 32 players headed into Wednesday's single-elimination match play finals.

Wayne Webb goes for third straight PBA Senior U.S. Open title

2009PBAS08WayneWebb_small.jpgPBA Hall of Famer and two-time defending champion Wayne Webb (pictured) will attempt to become the first three-time winner of the PBA Senior U.S. Open presented by Suncoast when the 2010 edition is conducted June 6-11 at the Suncoast Bowling Center in Las Vegas. In 2009 Webb successfully defended his Senior U.S. Open title by defeating Brian Voss, 214-188, in the championship match. In 2008 he defeated top qualifier Johnny Petraglia, 204-172, for his first PBA Senior Tour title.

Mohr, who is trying for his fourth career title and first of 2010, rolled games of 215, 274, 233, 241, 249, 257, 216 and 190 for an eight-game total of 1,875 pins and a nine-pin lead over Harry Sullins (r.) of Chesterfield Township, Mich.

Making his PBA Senior Tour debut, Williams, the PBA Tour's all-time leader in career titles with 47, notched his first Senior Tour win by defeating Keith Sharp of Orlando, Fla., 267-245 in the championship match.

The win gave Webb his third career Senior Tour title to go along with his 2008 and 2009 Senior U.S. Open titles, and came after finishing second in last week's season-opening Senior Dayton Classic. Several Senior Tour scoring records were broken in the the PBA Senior Columbus Open including the most 300 games in a tournament with nineteen.

The 134-player field has been cut to the top 32 players who will advance to best-of-five match play beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m. Eastern.

Williams, who is currently competing in the Japan Cup, will be among more than 130 of the world's top Senior Tour players (age 50 and over) who will compete in the third stop of the 30th Senior Tour season. PBA Xtra Frame will have final-day coverage of the Senior Columbus Open on April 27 and the Senior Miller High Life Classic on May 5.

In Tuesday's semifinal round Ferraro defeated Mike Dias of Lafayette, Colo., 222-202, and Webb defeated two-time Senior Tour titlist Henry Gonzalez of Colorado Springs, Colo., 190-186, to advance to the championship match.

Traber, in his third full season on the Senior Tour, had games of 237, 235, 247, 248, 199, 207, 264 and 235 in his second qualifying block Monday to bring his overall 16-game pinfall to 3,680. The field of 144 players has been cut to the top 32 who will advance to best-of-five-game match play beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m. Eastern.

Returning to Dayton will be defending champion Ron Mohr (pictured left) of Eagle River, Alaska, who used last year's Dayton event as a springboard in earning his first Senior Player of the Year honor. Mohr defeated PBA Hall of Famer and Senior Tour "rookie" Brian Voss of Alpharetta, Ga., 211-206, in the championship match.

PBA announces nine-tournament Senior Tour Schedule for 2010

PBA1958Logo_mini.jpgThe Professional Bowlers Association has announced its nine-tournament PBA Senior Tour schedule for 2010 beginning with the PBA Senior Dayton Classic April 17-20 and ending with the PBA Senior Jackson Open Aug. 21-24. The schedule will once again include two majors, the PBA Senior U.S. Open presented by the Suncoast and the United States Bowling Congress Senior Masters, which will be conducted June 6-11 and June 13-18, respectively.

PBA's all-time titles and earnings leader will soon test the PBA Senior Tour waters

200910PBAWalterRayWilliams_small.jpgPBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. spent a relaxing day at home Tuesday, contemplating if not celebrating his 50th birthday. In addition to his record 46 PBA Tour titles and more than $4 million in career earnings, Oct. 6 marked the day Walter Ray Williams Jr. became eligible to begin compiling a new set of records as a PBA Senior Tour competitor. At age 50, Williams remains a remarkably physically-fit athlete. He plays golf at near-scratch level. He's still a world-class horseshoe player.

Thunderbowl’s Arena Bay in Detroit will come full circle as the site for six ESPN television events at noon, 3:30 and 7 p.m. each day. These scores may not have been broadcast on television yet.

Thomas Smallwood, Rhino Page and Bill O'Neill also advanced to the finals on Dec. 13. Earning berths in the Women's World Championships title match were Shannon Pluhowsky and Kelly Kulick. Harry Sullins and Hugh Miller are the Senior World Championships finalists.
