The youth teams from Korea dominated the 16th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships, which was held in Cairo, Egypt, from Feb. 1-10, 2012. In the Boys division Hwang Dong-Jun, Choi Tae-Seung, Ryu Ji-Hoon and Cha In-Ho turned in an outstanding performance and left Egypt with all five gold medals plus one silver and four bronze. In the Girls Division, Kang Su-Jin, Son Hye-Rin, Lim So-Hyun and Hwang Yeon-Ju won all but the gold medal in Masters and added three silver and two bronze medals to the Korean medal haul.
The Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress has released Bulletin No. 1 for the 17th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships Sept. 7-14, 2013 at South China Athletic Association Bowling Center at Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, China. Boys and girls will compete in Singles, Doubles, four-player Teams, All Events and Masters. The boys and girls Masters stepladder finals will be staged at the 12-lane training facility (pictured) inside the Hong Kong Sports Institute
After 8 days of competition the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships came to an end with the Girls and Boys Masters finals Tuesday Feb. 2 in Salmiya City, Kuwait. Kim Hyun Mi (l.), Korea, and Michael Mak (r.), Hong Kong won the coveted titles. The team from Korea, boys and girls, became the Overall Champion. Hong Kong was the Boys Overall Champion and Singapore the Girls Overall Champion. 
In a close title match, between the Doubles champions from Hong Kong, No. 1 seed Michael Mak (center) defeated No. 3 Eric Tseng (left) by 5 pins, 434-429, to end the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait with victory in Boys Masters. It was the third gold medal for Mak. Tseng shot a huge game to eliminate Singles champion Shin Seung Hyeon (right), Korea, in the opening match, 268-189.
Top seeded Kim Hyun Mi (c.) defeated Singles champion Baek Seung Ja (l.) in the title match, 494-428, to claim the gold medal in the Girls Masters finals of the 15th Asian Youth Championships Tuesday afternoon at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait. In an All-Korean final. No. 3 Baek ousted No. 2 Lee Yeon Ji (r.) in the opening match, 236-216. When Kim started the final with a huge 279 game (to Baek's 223), the match was practically over. Kim cruised to victory with a 215-205 win in game #2.
Michael Mak (c.), Hong Kong, averaged 262.25 and won all eight matches to take a dominating 136-pin lead in the Asian Youth Championships Boys Masters finals after the first 8-game block Monday at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait. Mak chalked up 2178 pins including 80 pins bonus (10 per win) and outaveraged his nearest competitor, Singles champion Shin Seung Hyeon (l., 2042), Korea, by more than 15 pins. Shin's compatriot Hong Hae Sol (r.) was another 51 pins behind in third place with 1991.
Korea, the only country which has all four players in the Girls Masters finals of the 15th Asian Youth Championships, dominated the first block of rmatch play Monday at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait. Kim Hyun Mi (c.) averaged 252.38 over eight games and compiled a 6-2 won-loss record (10 pins bonus per win) to lead the 16 finalists with 2079 pinfall total. Lee Yeon Ji (left) is second with 1967. Kim Yeon Ju is mere six pins behind Misaki Mukotani (r., 1898), Japan, in fourth place with 1892.

Starting the day in 5th place and 313 pins off the pace for the gold medal, Bernice Lim, Gina Lim, Krishna Darshini and New Hui Fen (pictured), Singapore, set three Asian Youth Championship records en route to win the gold medal in the 4-player Team event. Japan took silver and Korea bronze. Bernice Lim, Singapore, secured the gold medal
in All Events with Misaki Mukotani, Japan, in second and Baek Seung Ja, Korea, in third. Rebecca Whitting from Australia rolled the fifth perfecto of the championship.

Rina Asada, Yuri Sato, Mika Yamada and Misaki Mukotani of Japan (pictured) took a 129-pin lead as the 4-player Team event has reached its halfway mark in the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships in Kuwait. The foursome had 2686 3-game total (223.83 Avg.) on the long pattern. Korea is second with 2557 and Australia third with 2489. The final 3-game block on short oil will determine the gold medals in Team and All Events and also the top 16 players for the Masters finals on Monday and Tuesday.
Michael Mak and Eric Tseng (c.) from Hong Kong stormed to the gold medal in Doubles in the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships Friday in Kuwait. The duo felled 2783 pins, an average of 231.92 for six games. Squad 1 leader Park Jong Woo and Hong Hae Sol (l.), Korea, were 90 pins behind to earn the silver medal with 2693. Khoo Beng Khai and Aris Ardilla Santosh (r.), Malaysia, took the bronze medal with 2639. Singapore's Justin Lim rolled the fourth 300 game of the championships in the final game.

Shin Seung Hyeon (c.) won the second gold medal in Boys Singles at the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships Wednesday in Kuwait. Seung Hyeon led the 58-player field on the short oil pattern with 1483 six-game total and an average of 247.17. Lee Tak Man (l.) of Macau, China. took silver with 1446 including the second 300 game of the championships. Michael Mak (r.) of Hong Kong led the first of two squads with 1418 (236.33) en route to earn the bronze medal.
Baek Seung Ja (c.) won the first gold medal in the 15th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships in Girls Singles on the first day of competition Tuesday at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya City, Kuwait. Seung Ja started the event with a 299 game and never looked back. She added games of 229, 245, 279, 279 and 221 for 1552 six-game total and an average of 258.67. Silver and bronze went to Japan's Misaki Mukotani (l.) and team mate Rina Asada (r.), who rolled the first 300 game of the Championships.
Wu Suqin (l.), China, and Hung Kun Yi (r.), Chinese Taipei, claimed the Girls and Boys Masters titles to end the 14th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships at the Holiday Inn Lido bowling center in Beijing, China. Top-seeded Suqin topped Zatil Iman, Malaysia, 438-412, while Hung came from behind to win the boys' gold medal against Choi Bok Eum, Korea, 449-382.
