Brunswick Euro Challenge receives EBT Platinum status in 2011

Tournament features 106.000 Euro prize fund, round robin and 3-player stepladder final

2010EBT05BECLogo_small.jpgThe 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge has been granted "Platinum" status for the 2011 European Bowling Tour by the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF). The total prize fund will increase by 16.000 Euro to a total prize fund of 106.000 Euro. The organizers have also changed the format of the finals. The 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge will be held from March 4th through 13th at Le Plaza Bowling in St. Maxim at the outskirts of Paris, France. The 2011 EBT consists of 22 tournaments.

ETBF announces sites and venues of the 2011 European Bowling Tour

Tour features 22 events with total prize money of more than 1.1 million Euro

2011EBTLogo_small.jpg The presidium of the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF) has announced the sites and venues of the 12th European Bowling Tour 2011, which will include 22 tournaments in 17 countries. The 2011 EBT will consists of 7 gold tournaments, 7 silver tournaments 7 satellite tournaments and ends with the sole platinum tournament in Doha, Qatar, which will offer the highest prize fund of 120.000 Euro. The total prize fund of the 2011 EBT will exceed 1.1 million Euro.

Two tournaments cancelled, one postponed, 2010 Masters moved to Denmark

2010 European Bowling Tour now features 19 tournaments

2010EBTLogo_small.jpgWithin in a week, the 2010 European Bowling Tour lost two of its tournaments and was reduced to 19 events as the Austria Challenge (EBT Silver) in Vienna and the Ankara Open (EBT Gold) in Turkey have been cancelled by the organizers. The EBT also announced that the tournament in Torneo Internazionale di Roma, Italy was postponed from September to November and the 2010 EBT Masters will be moved from Vienna to Aalborg, Denmark.

Ljubljana, Slovenia to host European Bowling Tour Masters 2011

2010EBTLogo_small_0.jpgThe European Bowling Tour has announced that bowling center "Gladiator Arena" in Ljubljana, Slovenia will host the 2011 EBT Masters. The 2011 Masters is the season-ending event of the 2010 European Bowling Tour featuring the top 16 men and the top 16 women of the tour's 2010 point rankings. The 2011 Masters will be conducted on April 11-12 immediately following the 5th QubicaAMF Open 2011, an EBT event. Paul Moor, England, and Kamilla Kjeldsen, Denmark, are the defending EBT Masters champions.

2010 European Bowling Tour features 21 tournaments with over 1.2 million Euro prize money

2010EBTLogo_small.jpgThe European Bowling Tour is heading into the 11th season featuring 21 tour stops between January 2nd and December 19th, 2010 including all 15 tournaments from the 2009 schedule plus six newcomers to the tour. The Gold, Silver and Satellite tournaments will be sandwiched between the two Platinum events, the 40th annual Brunswick Ballmaster Open and the Qatar Bowling Open. The total prize fund of the 2010 EBT will exceed 1.2 million Euro, an average prize fund of approximately 55.000 € per stop.

European Bowling Tour unveils 2010 EBT Schedule

The 2010 EBT includes 21 stops between January 2nd and December 18th, 2010 with return visits to all 15 venues from the 2009 season and six newcomers to the tour. The total prize fund of the 2010 EBT will exceed 1.2 million Euro, an average prize fund of approximately 55.000 € per stop.

6th Oltremare Championships, an EBT Major, has been cancelled

2009EBTLogo_small.jpgStefano Coppa, organizer of the Oltremare Championships in Naples, Italy has informed European Bowling Tour director Kim Thorsgaard Jensen that the 2009 edition of the event has been cancelled. The 6th Oltremare Championships, an EBT Major, was scheduled for November 14-22, 2009 as the 16th stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour. The 2009 European Bowling Tour now consists of 15 tournaments - 11 Majors and 4 Challengers. The next stop is the 5th Storm San Marino Open from July 4-12, 2009.

Ankara Open status changes from Premier to Major due to reduced prize money

2009EBTLogo_small.jpgAs a consequence of the global financial crisis, the organizer of Ankara Open, the 13th stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour, has announced that the prize fund of the 2009 tournament will be reduced to 70.000 Euro. In agreement with the European Tenpin Bowling Federation Presidium the Ankara Open changes loses its "Premier" status and changes to EBT "Major". The Ankara Open will be conducted September 5-13, 2009 at Rollhouse Bowling Center Bilkent.

Ballmaster applies for Platinum status in 2010

Prize fund raises to 105.000 Euro with 15.000 going to the winner

BallmasterOpenLogo_small.jpgIn the year 2010, the Ballmaster Open tournament in Finland will celebrate its 40th anniversary. To underline the status as the longest running bowling tournament in Europe and the sole tournament which was on the European Bowling Tour schedule in every season since the tour's inception in the year 2000, tournament organizer Kimmo Lehtonen has applied for Platinum status in 2010 and has raised the total prize fund from 75.000 to 105.000 Euro. Lehtonen, a long-time Finish national team member and 2005 World Ranking Masters champion, has also announced that the Ballmaster finals will feature 16-player Round Robin match play followed by a stepladder final.

Maaswinkel replaces Planchard in the EBT Women's Masters

Planchard cited "personal reasons" for her decision. The Masters is the 2008 season-ending event of the European rankings featuring the top 16 men and women and will be held at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark, May 25-26, 2009.

Singaporean Ong to participate in European Bowling Tour Masters 2009

The Masters is the 2008 season-ending event of the European rankings featuring the top 16 men and women. Uotila, ranked 9th, has a hand injury and will be replaced by No. 18 Remy Ong (right), Singapore.

Stuart Williams withdraws from the EBT Masters 2009

Instead of participating in the Masters to be held at May 25-26 at Bowling Center, Aalborg, Denmark. The top 16 men and the top 16 women from the rankings of the 2008 EBT season earned a spot in the 2nd EBT Masters. Williams will be replaced by No. 17 Mads Sandbækken (right), Norway.

Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, Vice President of the European Tenpin Bowling Federation, EBT Director and tournament organizer of the EBT Brunswick Aalborg International has announced today that the EBT exemption will be given to the "highest ranked player in the men’s division of the European Bowling Tour after the Brunswick Aalborg International."

EBT Masters 2010 to be held in Vienna, Austria

Follows new tournament - The Austria Challenge

2007ASOWolfgangLohschmid_small.jpg Wolfgang Lohschmid, tournament director of the Vienna Open, a major tournament on the European Bowling Tour, has announced today that the Presidium of the European Tenpin Bowling Federation has decided at its meeting, February 6-7 in Vienna, to accept his offer to host the 2010 EBT Masters. The third ETB Masters will be held May 3-4, 2010 at 32-lane Plus Bowling, home of the Vienna Open, immediately following a newly formed tournament - The Austria Challenge. The inaugural Austria Challenge, which will be contested from Wednesday, April 28 through Sunday, May 2, 2010, will offer a total prize fund of 41.900 Euro.

Penny withdraws from participation in 2009 World Ranking Masters

2008EBT14KirstenPenny_small.jpg 2007 European ranking champion and last year's runner-up, Kirsten Penny (pictured left), England, has withdrawn from the 2009 World Ranking Masters and will be replaced by 11th ranked, Wendy Kok, Netherlands. The 2009 WRM will be held at Oltremare Bowling Arena in Naples, Italy from April 27 through May 3, 2009. Since its inception in the year 2001, the WRM concludes the ranking season of the three WTBA zones - America, Asia and Europe. With no host or sponsor for the 2010 World Ranking Masters on the horizon, the 2009 edition could be the last event of its kind.

Three qualifiers and one substitute withdraw from participation in 2009 World Ranking Masters

Three of the 16 European qualifiers, No. 4 Martin Larsen (pictured left) and No. 5 Peter Ljung (right), both from Sweden, on the men's side as well as women's No. 6 Britt Brøndsted, Denmark, have announced that they will not participate in the event. In addition the first men's substitute, 9th ranked Pasi Uotila, Finland, will not be available.

Another change in the 2009 European Bowling Tour schedule

2009EBTLogo_small.jpg Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, ETBF Vice President and Director of the European Bowling Tour, has announced that the Qatar Bowling Federation, organizer of the 16th and final stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour has changed the name of the tournament to "9th Qatar Bowling Open" and - much more important - has also changed the tournament dates. "As a consequence of a clash with another event in the region," Thorsgaard Jensen wrote, "the organizer has decided to move the tournament one week, from 5-12 December to 12-19 December 2009."

Another change in the 2009 European Bowling Tour schedule

2009EBTLogo_small.jpg Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, ETBF Vice President and Director of the European Bowling Tour, has changed the schedule of the 2009 European Bowling Tour several times in the past month as tournaments have been cancelled and added. On December 1st, Thorsgaard Jensen has announced yet another change in the roster as the Ebonite International Luxembourg Open, which was added to the schedule jus three weeks ago, was moved from its original spot in May to October. The tournament is slated for Oct. 20-25, 2009 at X-Treme Bowling & Billard in Foetz, Luxembourg as the 13th out of 16 events on the 2009 EBT.

European Bowling Tour announces two important decisions for 2010

2010EBTLogo_small.jpg According to Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, ETBF Vice President and Director of the European Bowling Tour (EBT), the presidium of the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF) has made two important decisions for the European Bowling Tour effective in 2010. The presidium added a fourth category and changed the names of the three others. With the beginning of the 2010 season the EBT features Platinum (formerly Premier), Gold (Major), Silver (Challenger) and Satellite Tournaments, a new category with minimum 20.000 prize fund plus some other requirements. EBT 2009 back to 16 tournaments again

2009EBTLogo_small.jpg European Bowling Tour Director Kim Thorsgaard Jensen has added the Ebonite International Luxembourg Open to the 2009 EBT tournament calendar. Just three days after the cancellation of the Brunswick Belgian Open and the reduction to 15 tournaments, Thorsgaard Jensen has changed the schedule again. The International Luxembourg Open, which has been an EBT Challenger until this year but has withdrawn from the 2009 Tour, will suddenly be back yet on a different spot (May instead of January/February).
