Kelly Kulick (l.) of Union, N.J., finished the opening day of match play frustrated but at the top of the leaderboard Monday at the U.S. Women's Open, a USBC event. After 12 games of match play, Kulick found herself leading with a 5-7 record and a 36-game total of 7,879, including 30 bonus pins for each victory. Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, N.Y., is second, 11 pins back, and Amanda Beck of Plano, Texas, is third, just 25 pins off the lead. Round robin match play continues Tuesday with the final 12 games.
