USBC revises Sport Bowling Average Adjustment Scale

For the 2012-13 season, the United States Bowling Congress has updated the scale used to adjust the averages of Sport Bowling league members who compete in standard leagues or tournaments. The USBC Equipment Specifications and Certification team determined the changes to the Sport Bowling League Adjustment Scale were needed after analyzing data of bowlers in Sport and standard leagues.

PBA Experience Leagues available from USBC Sport Bowling

United States Bowling Congress Sport Bowling members looking to challenge themselves on the same conditions seen on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour again will have that opportunity with the return of the PBA Experience. PBA Experience leagues will be back in action beginning Nov. 1, and bowlers will be able to test their skills on oil patterns featured at national and regional PBA events.

Six sport bowlers will win a trip to Team USA Fantasy Camp

USBCSportBowlingLogoW.jpgMembers of United States Bowling Congress Sport Bowling leagues will have the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to an ultimate Team USA Experience Fantasy Camp. Six winners will be invited to visit the International Bowling Campus in Arlington, Texas, where they will train with Team USA coaches at the International Training and Research Center and then take on six members of Team USA in a special competition broadcast live on BOWL.com.

Team USA Experience Leagues to provide a new challenge for sport bowlers

TeamUSAExeperienceLeagueBanner_small.jpgThe United States Bowling Congress will bring an international touch to the sport this fall with the launch of Team USA Experience leagues, a new Sport Bowling option that will allow bowlers to test their skills on the lanes. Team USA Experience leagues were developed to give bowlers the opportunity to compete on the same challenging lane conditions that members of Team USA face when competing against the top players in the world at international competitions. Each of the 12 patterns is named after an Olympic host city.

Mike Norris Jr. sets all-time Sport Bowling record

Rolls 869 3-game series on the Cheetah pattern

MikeNorris869_small.jpgHonor scores are not exactly heart-pounding moments to Mike Norris Jr. (pictured). For the Melvindale, Mich., bowler, it usually is more like a been-there-done-that moment. But despite 98 certified USBC honor scores, including 24 800s and 51 300s, the 33-year-old entered Sunnybrook Lanes for his Wednesday night league on June 30 still chasing his first 800 series and 300 game on Sport conditions. A few hours later, he had both. And he had something else as well: the three-game Sport Bowling series record.

Fans to decide which League Bowlers will take on the Pros

For 18 bowlers, their chance to compete against some of the best professionals on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour, including star Norm Duke, is closer to becoming a reality through the PBA Experience Showdown. The PBA Experience Showdown is a unique competition for United States Bowling Congress Sport Bowling members.

2008-09 Sport Bowling High Average Awards go to Galante, Jablonski, Pavone and Pluhowsky

Pavone and Pluhowsky (l.) are first-time winners, capturing the adult male and adult female titles, resp. Jablonski has now won the youth male award two years in a row while Galante (r.) captured the youth female category for a record 5th consecutive season.

Alpert, Galante, Guerrero and Jablonski win Sport Bowling national high average awards

2006BWCClaraGuerrero_small2.jpg AshlyGalanteWIUBowlingTeam_small.jpg The United States Bowling Congress membership awards department has declared Bryan Alpert, Ashley Galante (l.), Clara Guerrero (r.), and Adam Jablonski, Sterling Heights, Mich., the 2007-08 Sport Bowling national high average award winners. Alpert, Guerrero and Jablonski are all first-time winners while Galante led her category for a USBC-record fourth consecutive season. Alpert and Guerrero will receive the distinctive Sport Bowling Crystal Pin award, symbolic of their accomplishments. Jablonski and Galante will receive USBC Youth medals and certificates.

Sport Bowling 300 games, 800 series rise with membership

Regular honor scores stay fairly steady in 2007-08 season

USBCSportBowlingLogo.jpg Another increase in membership in Sport Bowling leagues meant another rise in Sport Bowling 300 games and 800 series in the 2007-08 season completed July 31. Meanwhile, the number of similar achievements in regular competition increased only slightly. USBC Sport Bowling members earned recognition for a record 104 perfect games and 23 800 series for the period from Aug. 1, 2007 through July 31, 2008. Those numbers were up from 60 300s and 8 800s. There were a total of 250 Sport Bowling scores earning major recognition.

The first rule of playing the PBA Experience patterns is that there are no rules. There's not one specific way to play any of the five patterns. The suggestions in United States Bowling Congress Sport Bowling handouts, fliers and videos on bowl.com are based on previous experience and success from professional bowlers.

USBC Sport Bowling National Average Winners announced

Team USA's Galante earns third straight award

AshlyGalante_small.jpg Bowlers from Florida, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin captured United States Bowling Congress Sport Bowling national high average honors for the 2006-07 season, including Team USA's Ashly Galante (l.) who won her third straight award. The awards come during what was a banner year for the USBC Sport Bowling program. Final statistics show the number of Sport Bowling members rose 120 percent over the previous season, with 27,921 competing in 2006-07 compared with 12,689 in 2005-06.
